Finding some crafting Mojo - Finally

The image was coloured with Copics and I ruined her dress trying to add folds to it when colouring.  Normally I would throw out the image and start again in frustration.  Instead I grabbed a remnant pattern paper and stamped the girls dress on it and fussy cut it out.  Wallah.. image saved and frustration relieved.   Interestingly I would never colour an image with red, its really hard to get it right, so paper piecing really saved the day.

I spent some time this morning looking up challenge blogs, before finishing my card.  I thought this may help guide my layout for the card.

My Favourite Things Haul and a card to boot!

I put off doing a MFT order, as the post to Australia was $22 minimum!  They do have a 10% discount once you order over $100 so that helped dull the pain of postage, and I got a freebie die called tag talk.. Its a shame that international post hurts so much.  The order got here super fast though, great service and a big thanks to MFT

I thought someone out there may be interested in these products too.  I was completely enabled by Amy R from Prairie Paper Ink (I think I've been saying Paper Prairie ink.. oops)  Amy does regular videos with MFT products as she is on their team (ohh what a gig).  She really made me want the stamp sets, Im sure you can see why.
So, in a very uncharacteristic move, I got goodies in the mail and actually used some on the same day.
I mention in the video that my die cutter machine can trace images and cut around them.  Its a Brother Scan and Cut, you can see what a great job it does in the card below, it traced the image and I told it to add a small outline around it.
.charisma cardz has an anything goes challenge and
I am playing in the Deconstructed Sketch 160 this week which is sponsored by MFT.. good timing huh!  The sketch is below.
and my take on it is here.
and the inside.  I was planning on entering the Verve challenge but realised you had to use one of their products. I don't have any!
As you can see I went a bit spotty, or dotty.. just because Simon Says stamp wants this this week for their Wednesday Challenge and just for fun Im also playing in a new challenge blog that I found called

Thinking of a friend xx

A lovely colleague from work left work yesterday in tears after getting a call saying her Father had passed away.  This brought back some hard memories for me, as I was in the exact same position a few years ago, at work struggling to keep my composure.    This simple card is for her.  She is a card maker herself and has told me regularly she likes simple cards.

I had this card base made up from a few weeks ago after seeing Kristina Werner create this effect with pigment white, a stencil and distress inks.  It is so simple, yet effective.  It allows distress ink to sit on top of the Kraft card and remain vibrant.   The blog post here shows Jennifer McGuire original card using stamps and then Kristina's version with stencils.  I like both, unfortunately I am not as accurate as Jennifer would be when moving a stamp across just a little.  I bought the stamp she uses when she first shared her idea.. must did that out.

Back in the craft room

It feels like forever since I have crafted, I seem to spend more time organising and arranging and cleaning up instead of creating.  I decided to play with the clear challenge at SSS and this card morphed from there.  I used matte gel medium with a dirty stencil..the paint made the medium discoloured but I actually like how it looks.   I started with watercolour as my card base as I really want to start using my water colour mediums, be it inktense, stains, pencils, gelattos etc.   I ended up using stains on this card, which kept it quite muted and soft.
