Well duh!

I completely stuffed up and posted a card early.. a sneak peak perhaps for those really on the ball!
But this fortnights challenge with Card Makin Mamas is all about photo inspiration.

I took my inspiration from the frame in the background of the photo and then the yellow flowers and if you look closely the bunny beside the lamp post.  Can you see anything remotely similar to the inspiration.

Please head on over to the CMM challenge blog and link up your creations so the DT can comment and be inspired yet again by your work.

Mini Mummy

This is my favourite card from the weekend, there is something about it which just makes me smile.  I created this card with my eldest daughter in mind after she injured her hand and lost her fingernail  and subsequently was in quite a lot of pain for 24hours.  Its now a week later and her new nail is already growing, isn't the human body an amazing machine.

My image is from Lacy Sunshine and can be found here on the retired page.  Im very pleased I found it before it was gone.  And it was only $1, so I was extra thrilled.  I think this will be my new go to image for Get Well cards.

It coloured really easily and there were loads of places to add shading throughout the bandages.

I used a Simon says Die and sentiment set and cut up another clear set to grab the scripted "with".  Im  enjoying cutting up my stamps to create new sentiments.  A friend that I crafted with over the weekend, searched my sentiments and ended up creating the wording of You are my lucky Charm, using words for 4 different sets.

I am popping this card into the Lacy Sunshine challenge this week, Im also going to enter into
the something new challenge over at Card Mania, my image was brand new.

Another project

Another project I completed over the weekend.  I had coloured this little girl over a year ago and never popped her on a card.  I went with a fairly simple layout and struggled just to leave it alone.  I am trying to use more white space on cards, which you will notice as I upload my weekend projects over time.  I used my friends jewel setter- I rock setter (which was the but of quite a few jokes) and really liked it, so I am now awaiting my own setter to arrive.

Im entering this beautiful girl into the following challenges
Melonhead - Girly
Cards Galore - Use a stamp or digi
Aud Sentiments - Anything Goes

Crafting for a weekend

I have just spent 4 days crafting with some beautiful ladies, lots of laughs, a little too much sarcasm (mostly from me) and lots of creating.  I feel absolutely thankful that I was lucky enough to be included in this crafting weekend.  I made about 12 cards over the weekend, some of which used some odds and ends that I created but never used on a project.  Here is one of those.  The plan was to use this circle on a rainbow project but I couldn't get it to work.  I ended up with Clean and Simple.

Im playing in a few challenges this week
Aud Sentiments Anything Goes
Cardmania - Something new (I used my brand new SSS hello die)

Splish Splash

http://cardmakinmamas.blogspot.com.au/
This week at Card Makin Mama's we are all about using your products like mist, sprays and paint.  I can't help but to think of the song Splish Splash she was taking a bath as I type this, if you want to get into the groove.. here is the link to the song below, I nearly linked to a cute one till I listened and decided against it!  Check out the dance moves in this video below... what a cool dude!

Now back to business at hand.  I was cleaning up this morning prior to crafting and found a embossed background that was better suited to the bin, I decided to play with it and distress inks to see what would happen.   Well glitter from the embossing paste grabbed the distressing tool but after that it was smooth sailing.   I used dried marigold, aged mahogany, ripe persimmon and rusty hinge inks  and then "splashed" water heavily onto the card stock, I let it bleed a little and then hit it with the heat gun.

After I had my background sorted I started adding embellishments.  I searched high and low for some chipboard butterflies that Melissa kindly gave me and couldn't find them (and no Melissa they are not hanging on the waredrobe door with the punches!).  So I went to the remnant box and grabbed a scrap of kraft and cut a pile of butterflies out.  Feeling they were a bit bland I chucked some modge podge on them and sprinkled glitter on them for a bit of "bling".
The vine is cut from my newly acquired Tim Holtz die, which I LOVE LOVE LOVE, it had vines, branches and different types of leaves on it, Im sure it going to be used very regularly.  I then added the sentiment and die from the Simon Says Stamp Thanks set and added a bunch of flowers from my stash.
I think this is one of my favourite colour combos in this background, I tend to go for this colour palate quite regularly.
Anyway, if you made it all the way through this post, well done!  Thanks for visiting and please head on over to Card Makin Mama's and play along.  Feel free to share our blog  challenge banner on your own blog as we would love more visitors to our challenge.
